Pilot and a little Prince
Rivne Academic Regional Puppet Theater
The Pilot and the Little Prince is a production by the Rivne Puppet Theatre, based on Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's beloved story. Stage adaptation by Viktor Opanasyuk and Yuriy Paskar.
A pilot crashes in the desert. His plane is gone. So is everything he thought he knew about the world. In the middle of the sand and silence, he meets the Little Prince — and the child's simple, unfiltered view of life becomes the one thing that can heal a broken adult soul.
The performance contains no gunshots, no direct references to war. And yet it is about war. About what it does to a person. About how to hold on to faith in humanity when everything around you says otherwise.
Saint-Exupéry wrote The Little Prince during World War II. The baobabs are evil spreading unchecked. The pilot is a soldier. He knew exactly what he was writing about — and so does this production.
The performance is dedicated to the director's son, Dmytro Paskar, a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
