Jáchym Topol
Jáchym Topol is a Czech novelist, poet, playwright, journalist, and was the program director of the Václav Havel Library. Prior to 1989, he was active in the underground movement, published the samizdat magazines Violit and Revolver Revue, and signed Charter 77. He is the author of the stage plays Uvařeno and The Journey to Bugulma (Cesta do Bugulmy). His novels and novellas have served as the basis for numerous stage and film adaptations, including Sister (Sestra), Angel Exit (Anděl Exit), and Prague Stories (Praha očima…). He is also known for his work as a lyricist for the band Psí vojáci and singer Monika Načeva. He is a recipient of the Jaroslav Seifert Prize (2010) and the State Award for Literature (2017).
