The Vosto5 Theater in Prague was founded in 1996 by Ondřej Cihlář, David Kašpar and Petr Prokop. It is an independent ensemble creating original productions of a considerable range, combined with original poetics and typical original humor. The theater’s work is rooted in modern cabaret and clowning, which, along with improvisation, permeate many of the company's performances to varying degrees. The themes of all Vosto5 Theater productions are united by an interest in Czech themes, events and stories that spice up the nation’s complex identity in the melting pot of society and history. Its aim is not to idealize but present each story with its distinctive complexity and ambiguity, always with a conspiratorial distance and detachment.
