Štěpán Otčenášek

Štěpán Otčenášek is a renowned Czech theatre dramaturg and educator. He received his professional education at DAMU in Prague, where he subsequently passed on his extensive experience to future generations of students as a teacher at the Department of Dramatic Theatre. In the early 1990s, he joined Divadlo Labyrint in Prague, where his pivotal creative collaboration with director Hana Burešová began. In 1996, he and his colleagues became the founding figures of Divadlo v Dlouhé in Prague. Otčenášek has long worked here as a core dramaturg, fundamentally contributing to shaping the unmistakable identity of the entire theatre. He is the creator of many award-winning theatrical adaptations and dramatizations of literary works, such as Soudné sestry (Wyrd Sisters), Lidská tragikomedie (The Human Tragicomedy), Maškaráda (Maskerade), and Mistr a Markétka (The Master and Margarita).
