Mario Buzzi
Mario Buzzi is a versatile Czech composer, multi-instrumentalist, lyricist, and educator. Born in Prostějov in 1974, he studied bassoon and piano at the Kroměříž Conservatory before completing degrees in composition and electroacoustic music at JAMU in Brno, where he later earned a doctorate and began teaching. As a stage music composer, he has built long-standing collaborations with leading Czech theaters, including HaDivadlo, Divadlo Husa na provázku, Divadlo Petra Bezruče, and Divadlo Komedie. Beyond his dozens of theatrical scores created alongside directors such as J. A. Pitínský and Vladimir Morávek, he composes for radio, television, and audiobooks. He serves as the house composer for the Brno Contemporary Orchestra, performs in the original cabaret Komediograf, and has contributed to bands including JáMor, Luční koník, and Chorchestr. In his work, he uniquely blends elements of classical music, neofolk, jazz, and modern electronic experimentation.
