Nikola Tempír is one of the most sought-after Czech set designers today. He comes from Ostrava and studied stage technology at the Secondary School of Applied Arts in Prague. He then continued his studies in set design at the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts (DAMU) in Prague, graduating in 2010 and working there as an educator since 2012. He is an exceptionally active creator in the theatre world. He designs sets for leading Czech stages, such as the National Theatre, Dejvické divadlo, Divadlo Na zábradlí, and the Petr Bezruč Theatre in Ostrava. He frequently collaborates with directors Petr Zelenka, Jan Frič, and Braňo Holiček, and has also worked on a number of international projects. Audiences and critics alike appreciate his imaginative use of space, whether in intimate chamber dramas or large-scale musicals. His distinctive style can also be seen on screen. For instance, he created the set design for Jan Svěrák's successful musical The Braník Miracle (2022) and the television comedy series Limits (2025).
