David Marek

David Marek is a renowned Czech theatre scenographer. He successfully completed his professional education in scenography at DAMU in Prague. During the 1990s, he became a core collaborator of director Hana Burešová at Divadlo Labyrint in Prague, and in 1996, he and other colleagues moved to the newly established Divadlo v Dlouhé. There, he became one of the key creators fundamentally shaping the visual identity of its performances. As a scenographer, he is credited with many successful and visually exceptional productions, including Faidra (Phaedra), Lidská tragikomedie (The Human Tragicomedy), and Lhář (The Liar). In addition to his home stage, he regularly makes guest appearances at other major Czech theatres, including the National Theatre. In 2003, he significantly contributed to the Czech exhibition for the prestigious international Prague Quadrennial exhibition.
