Jeffrey Hatcher

Jeffrey Hatcher is an acclaimed American playwright and screenwriter. Born in 1957 in Ohio, he studied theatre and dramatic writing at Denison University before training in acting at the Juilliard School in New York. As a dramatist, he has made his mark on Broadway and international stages through razor-sharp dialogue, theatrical nuance, and celebrated stage adaptations. His best-known plays include Compleat Female Stage Beauty, Tuesdays with Morrie, and his adaptations of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Hatcher is equally distinguished as a screenwriter, having penned the film adaptation Stage Beauty, the historical romance Casanova starring Heath Ledger, the period drama The Duchess with Keira Knightley, and the thrillers Mr. Holmes and The Good Liar starring Ian McKellen. His work masterfully blends rich historical atmosphere with compelling examinations of identity, illusion, and performance.
