Vojtěch Matocha

Vojtěch Matocha is a Czech writer and programmer who has won readers and audiences with his Prašina trilogy. A graduate of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University, he combines the world of technology with writing adventure stories for children and young adults. Prašina (2018–2021) became a phenomenon, selling over 120,000 copies, and inspired an audiobook, a stage adaptation (for example at the Klicpera Theatre in Hradec Králové), and a forthcoming film. The books have been nominated for the Magnesia Litera, the Jiří Orten Award, and the Golden Ribbon, and also received the Teachers’ Award. The media describe Matocha as an author who can offer today’s generation a “modern-day Foglar” and open a world full of suspense and mystery. Vojtěch Matocha is one of the most prominent Czech authors for young readers today.
