Arnošt Goldflam

Arnošt Goldflam is a renowned Czech actor, director, playwright, and author. He was born in 1946 in Brno, where, after leaving his medical studies, he went through several blue-collar jobs before finding his place in the arts and graduating in directing from the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts (JAMU). His theatrical career is inextricably linked to the Brno alternative scene. From 1978 to 1993, he was a core figure at HaDivadlo, fundamentally shaping its artistic direction as a director, dramaturg, and playwright. His close creative collaboration with the Husa na provázku Theatre was also highly significant and intense. Later, he began to expand his theatrical horizons, becoming a regular and popular guest at Prague's Studio Ypsilon and Divadlo v Dlouhé. The wider public associates his unmistakable comedic style primarily with the silver screen. He left an indelible mark on television audiences as Arnošt in the cult comedy Dědictví aneb Kurvahošigutntag, as well as the good-hearted Mr. Lustig in the fairy tale Lotrando a Zubejda.
