Jiří Zahajský

Jiří Zahajský was a popular Czech actor and a long-time member of the Činoherní klub. He began his career at the Vinohrady Theatre and in 1965 became a member of Divadlo za branou, where he performed alongside Vladimír Menšík in productions such as Maškary z Ostende. When Divadlo za branou was dissolved in 1972, Zahajský and Libuše Šafránková moved to the Činoherní klub. His colleagues included Petr Čepek, Jiřina Třebická, Josef Somr, Jiří Kodet, Jiří Hrzán and others. On screen, his full beard often led him to be cast as foresters or fatherly characters; viewers may remember him, for example, from the series Křeček v noční košili. Another unforgettable role is Inspector Trachta from the comedy Rozpuštěný a vypuštěný. Jiří Zahajský was the life partner of TV presenter Kamila Moučková for 31 years, and from 1992 he was the fourth husband of actress Jana Brejchová.
