
Jaroslav Vostrý
Jaroslav Vostrý, born in 1931 in Turnov, studied theatre science and dramaturgy at DAMU in Prague. He devoted his entire life passionately to theatre, which he regarded as a calling that deserves full dedication and integrity.
In the mid-1960s, together with his fellow DAMU graduate Ladislav Smoček, he founded the Činoherní klub (Drama Club), which became one of Prague’s most popular theatres within just one season.
Throughout his career, he worked as a dramaturge, director, playwright, publicist, theatre theorist and teacher. Jaroslav Vostrý passed away on March 18, 2025, at the age of 94.
