Marek Žihla

Marek Žihla is one of the most prominent talents of the current young generation of Czech opera singers and a sought-after tenor. He first studied voice at the Prague Conservatory and subsequently completed his education at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. A major breakthrough in his career came with his victory in the junior category at the prestigious Antonín Dvořák International Vocal Competition in Karlovy Vary. He regularly and successfully makes guest appearances on leading domestic stages. Audiences can see him at the National Theatre in Prague, the J. K. Tyl Theatre in Pilsen, and the F. X. Šalda Theatre in Liberec. He also left his mark at the South Bohemian Theatre in České Budějovice, where he performed in the production of Handel's oratorio Messiah. His domain is primarily the lyric and Mozart repertoire. In addition to theatrical stages, he is intensely involved in concert activities and the interpretation of sacred music.
