Dušan Jamrich

Dušan Jamrich is a Slovak theatre, film and television actor and professor. He was born in Bratislava and studied acting at the Academy of Performing Arts (VŠMU), where he later also worked as a lecturer. From an early stage of his career he has been closely associated with the Slovak National Theatre, where he created numerous roles in both classical and contemporary productions. Between 1991–1996 and again from 1999 he served as the General Director of the Slovak National Theatre. On stage, Dušan Jamrich is admired for his cultivated acting style, distinctive voice and ability to portray strong, authoritative characters. Critics often describe him as one of the key personalities of Slovak drama and praise his charismatic stage presence. Alongside theatre, he has worked in film, television and radio. He appeared, for example, in films such as The Rooster Will Not Crow, Not Far to Heaven, and in television series including Ordinácia v ružovej záhrade and Chlapi neplačú.
