Peter Čanecký

Peter Čanecký is a renowned Slovak costume designer, set designer, and educator, considered one of the most respected figures in contemporary theatre. He studied stage design at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (VŠMU) and throughout his rich career has created sets and costumes for leading Slovak and Czech theatres, including the Slovak National Theatre, Slovak Chamber Theatre, Andrej Bagar Theatre in Nitra, the National Theatre in Prague and Divadlo Na Jezerce. His work is marked by precision, strong visual identity, and an exceptional ability to capture both character and atmosphere. Čanecký seamlessly moves between historical stylization and modern, minimalist concepts, with each costume serving as a fundamental part of dramatic storytelling.
