Tomáš David

Tomáš David is a Czech actor, singer, and musician. He was born in 1987 in Šumperk into a family of musicians. He first tried studying musicology in Olomouc but eventually defected to the theater and graduated in dramatic acting from the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts (JAMU) in Brno. He was one of the most prominent faces of the Zlín City Theater. Here he played, among other things, the iconic Jánošík and also performed in the play Baťa Tomáš, živý or in the famous political cabaret Ovčáček čtveráček, for which he also composed the music. Since 2019, he has been a permanent member of the drama ensemble of the National Theatre Brno, where he portrayed, for example, the title role in Hamlet. He also guest-starred at the Slovácké divadlo, where he was narrowly nominated for the 2022 Thalia Award for his role as Jesus in the musical Jesus Christ Superstar. Besides theater, Tomáš is intensively devoted to music; he plays the guitar and composes. As a frontman, he performed with the bands Gentle Irony and Divy, and currently plays with the group Naive Collective.
