Tomáš Belko

Tomáš Belko is a Czech lyricist, librettist, screenwriter and saxophonist, best known for his work with the band Sto zvířat. As a lyricist, Tomáš Belko has written hundreds of song lyrics, film and theatre scripts, and is the author of the libretto for the musical Lucie, větší než malé množství lásky as well as the multimedia projects Vivaldianno and iMucha, inspired by the work of Alphonse Mucha. In theatre, he has long collaborated with director David Drábek and composer Darek Král; the creative trio Drábek–Král–Belko has produced a number of original productions and musical projects such as Elefantazie, Kanibalky: Soumrak samců and Velká mořská víla. The style in which lyricist Tomáš Belko writes is characterised by playfulness, humour, sharp punchlines and a strong sense of linguistic rhythm, making him one of the most distinctive figures in contemporary Czech song and theatre writing.
